Connect More: More tools, more easily, more quickly

June 14, 2017 | By

Back in 2015, which in start-up years is approximately a decade ago, my colleagues, Todd and Cory, wrote a series of blog posts about our connections library (this one, if you’re feeling nostalgic). At the time, we had about a dozen or so out-of-the-box integrations with other key tools in the average marketer’s tech stack. In 2016, we started rolling out more and more connections that utilize our server-side pluggable infrastructure based on Docker and Node.js we created in 2015. In marketer speak, this new architecture makes it easy to create connections with other systems, not only from the browser, based on data layers or JavaScript APIs, but now also directly from server to server. With this technology, we are able to rapidly create batch and real-time connections with external systems.

A key pillar of our strategy to be the market leader in the CDP space is to add more and more out-of-the-box connections. We started discussing a universal user interface (UI) for all our connections, both browser based and server-side, so users can more quickly learn to use a new connection because the user interface is similar for every connection. The look of all our new connections is the result of more than a half year of discussion and iteration by the BlueConic design team (and we’ll be updating the old ones with this standard too).

The new UI achieves a few goals:

  1. Standard intuitiveness for all the use cases you’re implementing
  2. Self-directed training with more information about each step
  3. Quick and easy set up and support for more complex use cases in one interface

You can check out the list of BlueConic connections, as well as let us know if there are any you think we need to get on there. Here are some of the highlights from the last few months of releases:

  • Marketo
  • PostUp
  • Bronto
  • Krux
  • Omeda
  • Optimizely X
  • SilverPop (IBM Marketing Cloud)
  • Webhooks
