Where did you grow up? The United States

Two truths & a lie:

What have you learned in your time at BlueConic – about startups, about your role, about your team, about yourself?
A: I’ve worked at startups trying to transition to bigger companies my whole career, so it has been eye-opening to see how it all starts out. There’s a real sense of accomplishment knowing that when you come in every day, what you do actually has an impact on the company. Also, the places I’ve worked before have been more services oriented compared to software oriented, so learning the software side of customer interaction has been new.

What has challenged you the most? How did you deal (or are you dealing) with that challenge?
A: Learning HTML/CSS/JavaScript/JQuery/etc on top of mastering the BlueConic platform. I think most people would be surprised by all the different kinds of questions customers send our way. I am dealing with it by learning what I can when I can, and of course getting some help from the remarkably talented individuals we have on staff. And staying confident in my ability to learn and improve is important as well.

If you could change one thing about your time here so far, what would it be?
A: Its all too easy to fall into a trap of thinking about what you could have done better, so instead I’ll say I wish I created a secret horde of granola bars for when we run out and have to wait for Peapod.

What’s your advice to the newest members of the Crew (if you’ve been here) OR what was your acclimation to BlueConic like (for the newer folks)?
A: Stay humble and come in every day ready to do your best.

Why are you at BlueConic – what was it about your interview that you remember and made you want to be here? What keeps you here?
A: I remember that all of the people I met with were definitely TCB people. No one was going to slack off and let everyone else carry them over the finish line. These are the kind of people I fit in with best professionally. What keeps me here is that it turns out these people are actually pretty interesting and fun folks to boot. A big factor that keeps me here is the fact that I am learning new things every day and overcoming obstacles I never dreamed I could.

In the near and middle term, what are you focused on? What would you like to do that you aren’t or haven’t been able to do?
A: Account retention is the name of the game right now. I’d like to help improve the infrastructure and help put some really effective processes in place, so those are goals of mine as well.

What is your favorite BlueConic product feature?
A: The segment builder. It looks great, gets the point across, and is easy to use.

If you could switch roles with anyone else in the company for a day, whose job would you choose and why?
A: Patrick A. But only if his knowledge comes with it. He’s very versatile and knowledgeable and always has a great attitude.

A: The papasan chairs. I try to claim one for every living room meeting.

A: Astronaut. Or pirate. Space pirate?
